Discover Rotterdam

Wining and dining

Your next door neighbour is Gastropub V11, a big red lightship that offers a wide range of delicious British foods and beers. Very nearby in the Oude Haven (Old Harbour) restaurants and bars are lined op, facing the water and the old boats.

Real foodies will enjoy the Food factory and the Kaap (Deliplein) with many good restaurants.

Architecture

Rotterdam is the city of architecture in the Netherlands. The NAI (Netherlands Architectural Institute) has its residence here. Definitely worth visiting if you like (modern) architecture.

Or take a walk along the river Maas and be overwhelmed by the Rotterdam skyline, the bridges, the skyscrapers and the Euromast. Maybe you 'd rather go to a theatre or a museum? Don't miss the Kunsthal and the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen. On the south side of the Maas, at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge you can enjoy a show at the New Luxor Theater and the Dutch Museum of Photography Las Palmas is based nearby.

Shopping

The main shopping area is at walking distance and is open 7 days a week. You can shop at C&A or the Bijenkorf (the Dutch Harrods) or go the Witte de Withstraat, which is a street full of art galleries design shops and good restaurants, also at walking distance.  Every Saturday and Tuesday there is a very big market (vegetables/fish/antiques/fleamarket) at a 5 minute walking distance (Blaak).

Markthal

Shopping, food and architecture are mixed in the new Markthal. This fascinating builing is located at Blaak, very close to the Visithor.

Rotterdam, city of festivals

The Visithor is a prefect "home base" for visiting the many festivals this city has to offer all through the year.

International Film Festival Rotterdam

North Sea Jazz
